Right now, this very second you are reading this,
someone is sitting on a beach lounger by the pool, and there is also someone lying in a hospital bed, taking their last few breaths.
Wars are going on where millions of innocent people are dying, and there are also people sitting up in space studying the universe, and all the other planets.
There are children playing in a playground, or learning their a,b,c’s.
Medical students are trying to make breakthroughs to find cures for many illnesses, and inventors trying to make appliances that work faster and more efficiently than the ones we have in our homes today.
All of this is going on while you are sitting in your office or on the bus, train, or toilet as you read this.
the one thing all of you have in common is education, whatever level you got it, you still got it, in school, college, or at home.
Now the linked part, while we walk through Dublin city center we have sorry "had" the opportunity to look through a large window (portal) and witness what people were doing 3,000 miles away. Looking through from one of our busiest pedestrian streets to see one of the most visited cities in the world, and interact with whoever is on the other side.
But less than a month after it was opened this "portal" or window of our city was opened for all to see, has been closed, and why?
Well if you have seen TikTok or videos going around, you will of seen some of the actions by people showcasing our city to the rest of the world.
From flashing body parts to throwing food at the window, or fighting in front of it, to taking class-A drugs in clear view to the world, making all this seem as “normal”
This is miseducation, or lack of it because in some way these individuals felt these were acts to draw a few laughs, to be the main man on a night out, not only does this show the miseducation these people received down the years, but it also shows Dublin, Ireland in a darker light, again not educating the world or those who witness it to form an opinion of the Irish nation.
This is not just about a portal, or what NYC gets to see, it is everyday life, for those we come into contact with in real-time, how we educate our children and those around us, for they see our actions and listen to the language we use.
Our behaviours are our portals, how we behave in situations is witnessed by all who look up to us, or aspire to be like, our children, our children's friends, the kids we coach in sports, or the students we teach in schools, even to our friend's groups we keep, if we portray that these behaviours are ok or normal then those who witness it will think it's ok too.
But also, the good and nice things we show, the kindness, the support we show others, the manners, the nonjudgement to others, and good choices we show again and again despite the struggles and tough times we might face, this is the education that will help spread to others.
We all have portals and we are all being watched so perhaps after reading this we may grow more aware of those around us, we may or may not feel are noticing.
And as always, thanks for reading
and be kind to each other and yourself.
Marcus.
