That is correct. I cannot run a marathon, but I can run 8km (as I struggled to do it last week), and I could probably manage 10km next week.
And if I wish to run that 42.195 km in the future, then that is how I will do it.
Start with the distances I can manage and build from there.
Setting myself an achievable target to keep that momentum going rather than go big and fail miserably and never attempt it again.
But you know what? I am already halfway there because I chose to change the language in how I speak it to myself, which is crucial.
How we speak to ourselves will determine what results we get.
That unrealistic goal of losing two stone by the weekend is just unachievable in a healthy way.
But you can start with a realistic date to achieve it and lose that first 1lb and go from there.
That is something you CAN do.
If you can't leave that job, you are unhappy due to the good money.
You can review your spending habits and see what can be reduced to provide peace of mind that can help bring happiness to a job you enjoy.
That relationship you can't leave with fear of being alone or thoughts of months of heartache (that hasn't even happened yet) is the mind telling us we are already defeated.
You can take the first step, realize your self-worth, and leave to begin that healing journey immediately.
You could never buy a house with current prices, etc., but you can start saving and see what the future brings.
You can't get into that cold Irish sea, but you can get your feet wet as a starter and go deeper each visit.
Remember, this is only if it's something you have always wanted to do.
It is achieving our dreams and goals.
It starts with how we speak to ourselves.
The word manifesting is so widespread, but first, you must see yourself in the job, that car of your dreams, but the action to achieve it must first be taken.
Keeping an eye open for all possibilities to help us.
Unhappiness and loneliness things when we feel it is something we think we will never find our way out of, and we really won't if we choose it to be that way.
But small steps are all it takes, no matter how small. Forward is the only direction to go.
Finding things that make you happy, surrounding yourself with people who make you smile, having conversations that sit right with you, and removing yourself from the ones that do not.
The power of choice is in your hands.
But the patience and compassion we give ourselves are vital, for this takes time, but you CAN do it.
The old saying how does one eat an elephant?
One bite at a time (although I wouldn't recommend it, I like elephants)
but to walk a thousand miles, we must take the first step. (again, I would stick with just the 26KM -marathon distance)
The simple message is this, whatever we choose to do or feel we need to do, it starts small and builds from there.
And who knows might see you at the starting line next year.
(I'll be there to wave you on and wish you good luck) .
YOU CAN DO IT.
As always, thanks for reading,
Marcus
