We all know that feeling, walking into a bar, the DJ playing a tune, looking good, feeling good, seeing a few familiar faces, and being surrounded by your friends. You get a sense that this night will be a good one.
It's that tingly feeling inside you, that excitement at what's ahead, for you have felt that feeling before many great nights out.
That familiarity feeling that you cannot explain to anyone, but you know it, that energy inside, that gut feeling.
We must trust that energy about situations and people we encounter, for this bodily energy picks up on things that don't make sense immediately. It doesn't make sense, and we may question it, but once we learn to trust our intuition, the questions become less.
When that feeling comes around someone who isn't good for you, we must create space to listen. We must trust those vibrations. It may seem safe and easier to go with it, yet the body will warn us that it happened once before. The nervous system sends a warning that we generally tend to ignore for security and comfort.
The change in attitudes from friends, the doubt filled in the mind over someone's behavior, the feeling someone close to us is not telling us the whole story or truth, the lack of fulfilled promises from a loved one or place of employment, to that fantastic opportunity that has been presented to us, they have all happened before. Our gut will always give us warning signs to pay attention to.
The gut is known as the second brain. When a decision is to be made, through the brain and gut, between them, they assess all the memories, good and evil, and past learnings to help with your decision.
Did you know a large amount of serotonin (the happiness transmitter) is produced in the gut?
Just as a feeling can feel so right can change to feeling so wrong within a short time, for the memories we have built up within ourselves is countless.
And if that feeling to let go of someone or something that's not right anymore doesn't make sense, trusting that feeling feels more accurate than a significant reason.
The right path will find you, and the signs will come once you are on it. There will be more coincidences and new opportunities, and more people will enter your life that aligns with your newfound beliefs and values.
But whoever we meet, finding this path will provide purpose, longevity, or lessons.
This path will not come without obstacles, and it will be much simpler to stay within the comfort that we are familiar with, but how has this comfort served us up to now?
Only we, as individuals, hold that answer.
Learning to trust that gut and take a risk, into the unknown, because of a feeling may be the best decision our bodies can help us with for a better future.
That fear locked inside us will recommend playing it safe, but our bodies know the score. Learning to trust and believe is part of the journey.
Why not Try it out, and take a chance? Next time you get that feeling in your stomach, get uncomfortable. It might just be the best decision you have made. And if not, maybe it was just something you ate.
