Having a solid, focused mindset is the foundation for achieving anything. Right?
But as the title does not ask, are we putting our minds and what we set them to over what truly matters??
Countless self-help books on the market, how to succeed in business.
Get rich quickly.
How to grow your business etc. etc
How to be the best at what we do and similar titles take the right mindset.
Yes, they do, but does this sacrifice the "other" stuff, the stuff that matters?
Yes, the right mindset gets us off the couch to go to the gym, or having that belief that things will get better each day, yes with the right mindset we can achieve anything.
Making ourselves the best or investing hours upon hours to prove to ourselves and others that we can achieve great things is one thing, but if it affects our health, mood, and lifestyle, should it still take priority?
Letting the moments pass with children growing up, relationships suffering, and neglect of those around us, the ones who matter.
Are we aware that our dreams and goals may not align with others, and their mindset may be different?
Is our mindset so focused, so driven that we miss it?
The idea of retiring early and making that six-figure salary is undoubtedly a fantastic prospect, but if it comes at a cost, is it worthwhile?
Who can we share that money with if our health and happiness suffer, or will we even live long enough to retire?
That extra cheat meal is ok, you know if it is about sharing it with loved ones and friends; that night out or lazy morning away from the phone or laptop is allowed when it is your battery you are recharging.
Business life moves pretty fast but so does life in general. If we don't stop and soak in what is happening around us (the important stuff, the stuff that matters), we could miss it.
The perfect mindset is the one that knows balance, when to stop and breathe, and reset.
That six-pack or perfect body will happen in time.
That college/work assignment will get finished on time.
Those sales figures will happen too, once we are willing to give it time.
Being kinder and going easy on ourselves should happen time after time.
Focussing on the things that matter, health (mental and physical), family, relationships, and choices, we all can make them.
Now, what would I know? This opinion is just my mindset from mistakes in the past, situations I have witnessed, and people I have lost.
This message is not a YOU should do this. It is more of a could you step back and reevaluate your mindset if needed?
Does this behavior ring a bell? Is there something we are so determined to get that it affects some of those "matters" I have mentioned?
Could you?
Bring more balance into it and still get the job done, along with being happier and making those around you happy to be around you.
Could you extend that time frame to make that goal happen?
Or could you ask for help to protect yourself and those you love?
What does YOUR mind put all its focus on?
What are the more important things? But more importantly, are we prepared to lose the things that matter?
As always, thanks for listening,
Marcus.
Love it!! One thing I've learned is that when our time is finished on this particular lifepath, all our triumphs, possessions & monetary gains go back on the box, except one thing..who we've become in the process. What a fearless speaker & writer you are ❤️🙏
