I'm sure we all have owned a laptop or computer in our lives at one stage.
A beautiful piece of machinery for us to use as we wish, be it to write emails, search the internet, for work or recreational purposes.
When we turn it on first, filled with standard programs, half of which we will never use, but this information is inside it for us.
If we wish, we can delete all these files we do not want and still have a fantastic piece of hardware to add new personal programs, ones we would get to use more.
But by searching the sites on the internet or opening untrusting emails, we risk our computers picking up a virus.
Suddenly over time, it becomes slow, and it is hard to load pages or carry out tasks that usually take seconds.
Of course, we didn't update the security firewall to protect it, help to avoid it, or warn us that specific sites are not to be trusted.
We become frustrated and lose the plot at every attempt to use it until it is looked at or examined.
What about the human mind, our personal computer of the body?
This powerful machine also has had programs entered into it throughout our growing years.
Some of which we do not have much use for, yet we refuse to believe there are new, better programs out there for us.
Fear comes over us at the thought of trying out a new program or way of thinking, for these programs or conditions have been in us for years. Surely they can't be wrong.
Beliefs, values, lifestyle choices, conditions of worth, and how we think and see ourselves.
These, too, can be changed, maybe not entirely deleted, but stored in the recycle bin like a computer.
To be kept there as a point of reference as we rebuild new programs or find new ways of living our lives in a happier, joyful way.
About computers again, this is the wifi or internet connection that we need to search for a better way of life.
Those self-sabotaging thoughts and beliefs about ourselves can and will be eroded and changed in time.
This action is the firewall we build within ourselves.
To leave that toxic relationship, stand up or leave that job you dislike, remove yourself from work colleagues or boss that does not make you feel good about yourself.
Love yourself for who you are, and be the person you want to be.
We do not need anyone to complete you.
It is being open to honest communication and speaking correctly.
Living healthier, from the foods and drinks we consume to the things we read or scroll through.
Stand up to the friends who constantly moan or speak badly about others, and change your thoughts to learn to appreciate yourself wholely.
A positive outlook with a zest for life is the programs we can enter for ourselves.
Surrounding yourself with like-minded people is the firewall protection you need.
You are making the right choices for YOU.
It is helping you stay away from the people (sites) that do not serve you well.
These actions include doing the work, entering settings, and updating your software.
Yes, the unhealthy thoughts or habits may come back, which is ok, for it is all in the learning.
And just like your keypad, you can press CTRL, ALT, and DELETE.
Control those thoughts,
Find ALTERNATIVE ones
Delete that way of destructive living.
As always, thanks for reading.
Marcus.
