The Best PT in the world is..
And sure, while I'm at it, ill tell you the best therapist, life coach, influencer, skin specialist, and health advisor is too.
In the past week, I've sat in 6 different airports, been on six airplanes, four trains, and four countries, and heard multiple different nationalities speaking, to which I didn't have a clue what was going on or what was being said.
So you sit there a little bewildered and lost, observing and sometimes making up how you think the conversations are going in your head.
It is out of our comfort zone, but we manage and get by with some pigeon English or hand gestures or smiles. Plus, we are generally in a foreign country which means we are on holiday, and holidays are good.
You are probably thinking, stop side-tracking Marcus and get to the point, so let us get to this week's email and the big reveal.
I've been lucky enough to have come across some fantastic Personal Trainers (PTs) over the years.
Over the last few months, I've met so many more.
Not to mention graphic designers, social media VA's, and that word society has taught us to dislike "influencers." but aren't we all influenced by someone or something? I'm sure one of you may get "influenced" by me when I reveal who the best one is.
From Andy and James from Manchester. to Becca, Siobhan, Amie, and CiCi, all just names to you, without an Instagram handle for you to follow, all of them so knowledgable in their fields, but I am about to reveal who the best one is. For me and EVERYONE.
It's pretty simple and obvious it's. . . .
The one who speaks your language, the language you understand, the one that makes sense.
Unless we know what people are saying to us,
is it even sinking in?
Are we going to be 100% committed?
Are we just with these people because they got recommended by someone who speaks their language?
Is Macros your thing? Do you need to justify all the good foods you are "forced" to eat to allow that "cheat" meal to be more worthwhile?
Or is it that promise of looking fabulous for that holiday, that photoshoot in 10-12 weeks?
Or it is the chance to live longer, do more activities with your kids and grandkids, and spend less time with doctors than your parents may off.
What is the language for you? and who speaks it?
This statement applies to therapy, too, finding the right one that speaks your language and whom you can feel safe and trust, allowing you to open up and be honest.
These people are the ones you have chosen to pay for a service to get the best results you desire.
And be it six weeks or 18 or quite possibly long term, to help make better life choices, it will never work unless they speak your language, a language you understand.
Take a look at your closest personal relationships, your immediate circle, and your partners, but also look at people you are no longer friends with or relationships that have not worked in the past.
Who spoke your language? The ones in your life do, and those no longer in it probably did not.
We learn new languages in life, part of growth, knowledge, and awareness. At what stage or pace is different for us, and that's ok.
But finding people who speak the same language is so helpful, stepping away from people talking in ways you don't understand or agree with anymore.
How do you find them?
Follow that social media page, and listen to their message?
Join that email list, and see what they have to say.
Go on that free zoom that's on offer and see whether it makes sense.
Are you looking for a partner or a new group of friends?
Well then, go on that date. Take a chance.
It is only dinner and a drink, join that club, sign up for that hike, go to the next meet-up that retreat, or social club.
Google that local hobby or sport you are interested in and find people who speak your language.
Get out of that comfort zone and take a chance. It may be the best decision you made.
