Ever get that feeling of that burst of energy?
Usually after a good night's sleep, or after a can of red bull or monster, or that morning cup of coffee.
You feel alive, ready for that run, gym session, or day of work.
How good does that feel? Or, more importantly, how often do you feel it?
Not very often?
Well, maybe it isn't about that night's sleep, whether you have had your coffee, perhaps it has to do with something else?
The energy you possess or how you choose to use it is solely down to you.
It is not about the weight you lift in the gym, the amount of km you run, or the time you spend cleaning your house.
It is about the feeling you get when you do all of these. That, to me, is the actual energy.
That is the energy others get from you, which is the infectious part.
That work colleague who is always a breath of fresh air in a stuffy, tedious office job, that friend who greets you with a smile and a hug every time you meet.
The kindness someone shows you by holding open that door or letting you have the right of way in traffic, even that little thank you wave or flash of hazard lights, is energy.
Think about if you take those little things away.
How does it make you feel?
How many drivers have you cursed daily.. not so much good energy has been given then.
The energy we give to personal development and learning more and more about ourselves is energy. I love this area.
So much of my time goes into that daily.
Learning about behaviours, understanding them a little better, and seeking ways to change them.
And with every F*ck UP (which happens daily, trust me), I learn more. That's what I choose to do.
That is where I believe my energy will increase.
The people we choose to surround ourselves with, interact with, and reach out to will determine where we focus our energy.
That friend who is pessimistic about every girl, boy, job, and life situation, how much energy have we given them every day?
How drained do we feel? Getting off the phone or walking away with a feeling of lack off.. you guessed it.. energy.
Perhaps this is more about them that "they" need to focus on rather than what they are constantly unhappy and give out about.
These boundaries are there to protect you and how you feel. If you are feeling heavy, tired, or a little down, quite possibly, it's the environment you keep and the choices you make.
Find what lifts your spirits, have you feeling full of life, where you cannot wait to do it all over again.
If it's a job you dislike or a relationship you are unsure about, find out why you are there each day, is it to pay the bills, or that upcoming holiday, or to finance that car you drive, and let that be your energy?
If you can't find any, make some.
If we stay long within something that doesn't make us feel alive in all areas, we waste our energy on these things.
Maybe it's time to find something worthy of you.
Friends, social life, work, and even family at times, unless we feel our true selves in these places, is there a reason to constantly surround ourselves with them?
Remember, the choice is yours.
As always, thanks for reading,
Marcus.
That is so relevant especially in todays Me, Me, Me society.
I love this 🙌🏼
